Ipswich Civic Centre / Queensland
< Back to PortfolioFollowing a public market bid process, epc.Pacific were selected by Ipswich City Council to be the private sector partner to vision and undertake a large-scale Urban Regeneration and revitalisation of the Ipswich City Centre. The project was visioned to regenerate the town centre and catalyse further development by creating a newly activated and energised mixed-use environment.
Following 18 months of intensive master planning including a comprehensive community consultation and engagement period, together with extensive and detailed concept design progression, the parties agreed to progress a completely revised approach that was based on a civic orientated new City Centre. The vision was based on re-connecting the Bremmer River with the CBD and elevating community space and activity to be the heart of a revitalisation of the City Centre.
The new Civic Heart of Ipswich was designed to include a new library, Council Administration Centre and extensive public realm and activation that would enable a community place of gathering to engender pride and community connection.
The masterplan was anchored by the newly proposed Council Administration Centre designed to include epc.Pacific’s traditional high sustainability and efficiency profiles, and included the incorporated Council works for the delivery of a new town square and civic heart for the community.
